Parmenion rockets to the top of Citywire’s one-year performance rankings of the UK’s largest MPS providers

Over three years, Parmenion is second only to Quilter, the UK’s largest provider, and ahead of Tatton and Timeline, the UK’s second and third biggest MPS managers.

Citywire quotes:

"Parmenion, one of the pioneers of Managed Portfolio Service (MPS) investing, has delivered the strongest returns on average across its portfolios over the past year among the UK’s 10 largest providers."

Each provider is ranked based on the average outperformance across the portfolios it runs. The performance, after charges, of each portfolio analysed was compared with the average return in the Morningstar sector to which the data group has assigned it.

It's great to see the positive performance against our MPS peers. This is an output of consistently focusing on good client outcomes and maintaining sensibly diversified portfolios. There's no risky betting on countries, regions or sectors, simply relying on a disciplined approach and the benefits of a well-diversified asset allocation.

Emerging markets power Parmenion

Emerging markets have been stellar performers over the past year. Over the 12 months to the end of September, the MSCI Emerging Markets index has returned 31.4% in sterling terms, nearly double the 17.2% from the MSCI World. Soaring chip stocks, such as Taiwan’s TSMC and South Korea’s Samsung and SK Hynix, have led the rally.

The Parmenion Investment Management team have been running overweights to emerging markets in their portfolios, which has excelled recent growth.

That overweight is particularly pronounced in Parmenion's Passive Growth (Risk Managed) solution, which has outperformed peers by an average six percentage points over 12 months to the end of September.

In the most adventurous Risk Grade 10 portfolio, which has returned 38% over that period, the Vanguard Emerging Markets Stock Index fund accounts for 60% of assets, according to Morningstar, and the L&G Pacific Index fund a further 18%. That portfolio and the other nine in Parmenion's Outcomes Range are managed to Dynamic Planner’s risk framework, which Parmenion says enables it to take on more risk.
