Let's Grow '24: a recap

Hero Shot Article Review
For financial professionals only

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us at our fourth Let’s Grow event at Battersea Power Station on Thursday 28th November. Hosted in Control Room A of the iconic power station and finished off with 360 degree views of the London skyline in Lift 109, it was a day to remember. With over 120 people in attendance including advisers, paraplanners, speakers and Parmenion team members, Let’s Grow Live Wires was jam-packed from start to finish.

After welcoming guests and providing an overview of the day, Parmenion CEO Martin Jennings introduced our host Steph McGovern to the stage. Delivering an insightful and humour filled recount of her experience when meeting Donald Trump, Steph set the tone for the day. With a captivated audience, she unwrapped where the financial services industry lies today, and what’s in store for 2025 and beyond.

A Global Perspective

Parmenion Chief Investment Officer, Peter Dalgliesh and James Ashley from Goldman Sachs Asset Management, joined Steph on stage for a lively debate on the global investment outlook for 2025. Discussing if post Autumn budget and US election means recession is likely to rear its ugly head again, the trio made the complex world of investing relatable and highly entertaining.

Introducing Live Wires

For the first time ever, we introduced our Live Wire Sessions. Three, short sharp interactive sessions that covered what’s needed to deliver real value in advice firms, how to build meaningful partnerships that stand the test of time and an eye-opening look into the world of consumer AI.

Hosted by Mike Morrow, the interactive Live Wire sessions had an impressive amount of engagement. With 84% of the audience getting involved with the live polls, and 86% engaging with poll and Q&A opportunities, there were plenty of sparks flying when it came to discussing the results on stage.

Reverse Resistance

After lunch, Vanguard’s Head of Offer Development, Scott Johnston took to the stage to share the Advisory Research Centre’s latest work on behavioural coaching and decision making. With difficult and emotional client conversations often coming into play for advisers, Scott uncovered practical and actionable methods of how to guide clients through turbulent times.

Platform service matters

Our second report on the ‘Impact of Poor Service’ in partnership with the lang cat, was the final topic of the day, where Parmenion CEO Martin took us through the shocking results. Unfortunately, the platform landscape hasn’t changed much since last year when we first highlighted the issues advisers are facing when it comes to poor platform service.

This year, with a particular focus on transfer times, the latest research reveals a staggering 95% of advisers have had to apologise to clients because of poor service. But it wasn’t all doom and gloom. Martin rallied the troops on how the industry can help move things in a positive direction, with Parmenion at the forefront of lobbying for long term change.
