The challenges we face
Maybe it’s because I’m not as young as I once was, or maybe it’s simply who I am, but I often worry about what my generation will leave behind.
We know that climate change, habitat loss, and social inequality will disproportionately affect the most vulnerable, including women, in many parts of the world. It seems unlikely these problems will be solved by international agreement anytime soon.
While these challenges can feel overwhelming, I believe individuals still have power. People who care, when they act together, are a force to be reckoned with – especially when they support like-minded, forward-looking, successful companies.
Every choice matters
In the investment community, this means giving clients real choice. People should be able to make considered decisions about where they invest. Right now, this ability is hit and miss. Too often, what is presented as suitable masks the broader impact on society and future generations.
This needs to change if we want good outcomes.
On International Women’s Day, it feels especially important to remember that every choice – personal, professional, and financial – can help create a more equitable world for all, today and tomorrow.
